OUR BODIES ARE HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, BUT LARGELY ON A SUBCONSCIOUS LEVEL. OUR SYSTEMS ARE RUNNING LIKE TABS OPEN ON A COMPUTER. AS MY MENTOR AND TEACHER SAYS, “[CULTIVATING SOMATIC AWARENESS] ALLOWS US TO BECOME AWARE OF THE INTERNAL STATES OF OUR BEING. THE INFORMATION THE FELT-SENSE LENS OF PERCEPTION HAS TO OFFER IS VAST. RECEIVING THIS INFORMATION CONSCIOUSLY HELPS US UNDERSTAND OURSELVES AND WHAT DRIVES OUR AUTOMATIC, REACTIVE PATTERNS OF BEHAVIORS. The creative process is a human experience, not limited to an Artist’s experience. We deeply believe in the intrinsic human need to create and that creativity is issued to every person in some capacity. You have a creative contribution to make and we are here to assist that expression by drawing it forth, naming it and empowering that process by providing a safe, supportive and nurturing environment.
The creative process is a deeply spiritual conversation. We create pathways for you to “center down” and listen to God while returning home to your most authentic self. The creative process is an opportunity to check in with yourself and with God by quieting on a soul-deep level and listening. To create, one must listen to the sound of the present moment, honor those sounds and follow the silence as it leads.
The creative process is inherently collaborative. Whether it is in a group setting that offers a space to celebrate your creative movements, or creating in a communal space, we generate a spirit of non-competitive, supportive environments where exploring creativity is safe, fun and leads to inspired connection and creative flourishing together.
Jennie Schut is an award-winning artist, author of Waking Up Grey: An Exploration of Creative Awakening and a certified Enneagram Applications Professional. She is founder of Fly Forward, an organization that aids creative and spiritual exploration, awakening and flourishing through educational materials, small groups, retreats, workshops, individual art instruction, creative coaching and leadership training. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Middle Tennessee State University and a certificate in Spiritual Direction from Selah Center for Spiritual Formation as well as Somatic Enneagram training.
